Grange Beauchamp Hotel

Lovely welcoming staff. The Manager tried her utmost to accommodate us with a room change but this was not possible. However I appreciated her efforts for trying. She kindly offered us complimentary services. The room was ready so we were able to check in on arrival about noon which was really kind. So if your room is ready they will let you check in early. The room in the basement is very dark and cold and tired looking. This is not the fault of the staff but the owners. The owners need to update the facilities, update the internal glazing and fix the aircon as during the day and night it was very cold. I’m sure they would’ve provided a stand alone radiator if I had asked but that just dries out your throat and eyes so I never bothered. Carpets are stained and worn. Bathroom shows signs of wear and tear and mould. But the shower was hot any time of the day. Our towels were changed each day and our beds made, without us even asking, which makes a nice change. Like I said the staff are lovely it’s a shame the owners don’t update the rooms. We stayed in room 008. Large family room in the basement which is not what was shown on the website when I booked. I should’ve checked with the hotel before that the family rooms shown when booking is nothing like you would get. There was some noise outside the bedroom window from about 7am, maybe staff entrance or bike parking? You could hear the footsteps of the floor above which was noisy most of the time. We did not eat at the hotel so we cannot comment on other services. If this hotel was revamped I would stay again as location wise it’s excellent and the staff are nice. However I would not stay again in its current condition.

This hotel is worth the money. The front desk staffs are friendly and welcoming. The area is quiet. The room is old and dark with one window. The bed is comfortable. The room is big, good for a family stay. TV is old and too small for a big room. Wifi is good. The shower water is strong but very difficult to adjust the temperature. The hotel should change the bathtub buttons, and make them user-friendly. Room temperature is tricky to adjust. Suggest the hotel add a wardrobe and side table for the coffee. The chairs are heavy and old. Perhaps it is time to change to a more simple basic chair.

We have just stayed 2 nights here . Our room was in the basement very dark and rhe hotel definitely needs a refurbishment not very impressed with the room and the bathroom was in needs of some serious cleaning around shower screens. Tea making facilities are dangerous you have to boil the kettle in the wardrobe. Very dangerous. Would not stay here again. Staff were very nice and helpful. Very disappointed

4 star on booking site - someone is having a laugh. £180 for sad, tired little room. Kettle had to be boiled in the wardrobe, very dangerous set up. Generator outside running all night. Evening reception staff wouldn't get us a taxicab. Told to go outside in the dark and rain and hopefully flag one down! Continental breakfast just a farce. Very central location to theatres, hence why I booked, but should have checked reviews first. Silly me.

Our stay here was only for one night while waiting for our Airbnb to become available, and to be honest, I couldn't wait to check out. The experience started with a mix-up during check-in when the receptionist only asked for our first names, didn't check any documents, and mistakenly assigned us someone else's room (which was of a cheaper category than what we had paid for). Then, there was the issue of being charged again for the room without any prior notice. It took us a full hour of back-and-forth discussions until we were finally refunded, along with an apology, but nothing was offered to alleviate the situation. The hotel itself felt outdated, cramped, and overall quite old. However, the real highlight of our disappointment was the bed mattress. I woke up with severe back pain, and the mattress had a substantial gap, as if it had been sliced in two. Needless to say, we won't be returning to this place for any future stays.

This is definitely not a 4star hotel, maybe a 2star. Room is stuffy with no aircon, the room is also very outdated. I had originally booked the Grange Beauchamp hotel, but when i arrived they said that "because of maintenance" I had to go to The Portland hotel. Arrived at the Portland to be told I had to go to the hotel next door instead to check-in and then come back and stay at the Portland but in the morning food would be served at the Grange Beauchamp hotel. Bottom line for the price they charge this place isn't worth it, pay extra and go to the Mercure hotel.
